Hi everybody, I am Marco, class of ‘75. In 2004, I obtained my Alpine Guide qualification.
I consider myself the “baby” of the group, the last arrival and the youngest member of the school. Naturally, at the basis of my career choice, there is a great passion for the mountains and its activities. These were handed down to me by my father who always took me with him on trips to the mountains since I was a little boy, both in summer and in winter. In our bookcase at home, the Alpinist classics like Bonatti, Diemberger, Desmaison and Buhl were always close at hand and while reading of their great achievements, it was easy to dream…” one day, I will also….”
I don’t know if I can now say that I am grown up, but the dream of that little boy has come true… I am great enthusiast of the classic sports like ski touring and high altitude mountains and of those epic ascents between the years 1800 and 1900 of Lochmatter, Young, Stephen and company….
I love the mountain all year round and I believe that each season has an activity that helps you enjoy it to the fullest: winter with its snowy blanket for skiing, ice falls in which to hack ice axes and crampons; spring for high altitude ski touring trips and with the first rays of warmth, rock climbing; summer for high altitude mountaineering and autumn for relaxing hikes in the vibrant colours of nature and the last climbing trips on rocks still warm from the fading autumn sun.
Even though I am a guide on Mont Rosa, I am also a very adventurous person and always ready to go out and discover hidden valleys and mountains amongst our Alps or around the world.
My CV is rather void of famous mountains and routes as I have always chosen the classics, like the great Alpine peaks above 4000mt and beautiful mixed routes where there is always time and a desire to look around you.
