Program

1st day

Meeting with the guide in Cervinia/Gressoney at 8.00. Ascent to Plateau Rosa with lifts, climb to western Breithorn at 4165m continuing towards central Breithorn at 4160m. During this climb you'll have a stunning view framed by various 4000m. Dinner and overnight stay at Guide di Ayas shelter at 3400m.

2nd day

Departure at the first light of dawn walking on Verra's glacier, towards the Verra's col, edge between Catore and Polluce peaks. From there we will carry on pointing south-west to climb Castore. The ascent has moderate grade and ashtonishing views; it leads up to the ridge which is narrow and prominent but never scary. The summit photo will undoubtedly be an emotional experience because of the surrounding Alps! We will then descent to Quintino Sella, a truly environmentally-friendly hut for dinner and overnight stay.

3rd day

Today we will reach the highest refuge in Europe! At dawn we will begin the traverse of the Lyskamm Nose 4100 m, reaching the Lys pass. Surrounded by the giants of Monte Rosa, with a 360 degree view of the main peaks of the massif, we will reach Punta Gnifetti 4554 m to spend the night at the Capanna Margherita, getting lost among the stars.

4th day

After breakfast at the highest refuge in Europe, we will climb the Zumstein peak (4563m) with a priority view of the Doufur peak. We will then begin the descent to Indren passing through the Cristo della Vette and the Vincent Pyramid. After a well-deserved beer at the Mantova refuge, we will return to the valleys of origin passing through Indren.

The path can be varieted by the guide depending on weather and glacier conditions.

The overnight stay in Margherita can be replaced by a night in a lower shelter in case the group has difficulty to sleep in such a high altitude.

Being properly prepared and having a minimum standard of physical fitness is necessary to maintain an adequate safety margin in mountaineering climbs.
