Michele Cucchi (Longhez)

I am Michele, alias Longhez. I was born in 1970 into a family with a healthy amount of alpine guides and ski instructors. Having always been fascinated by the mountains, I transformed this passion for all activities connected to it, into a professional career. As caretaker and manager of the high altitude refuges, “Regina Margherita and Gnifetti” for nine summers, I was responsible for snow safety, avalanches and rescue. In 1995 I completed an Alpine guide course, thereby finally managing to connect my passion for skiing, rock climbing, alpinism and the fascinating world of mountains to a professional career. Other than accompanying my client-friends in their search for excitement and adventure on the Alpine mountains and around the world, or down ravines and canyons of alpine torrents, I dedicate myself to freeriding, steep skiing, telemarking, paragliding and photography. When I am not working, I love adventure travelling, discovering the mountains of the world: on my active list are Asia, the Americas and New Zealand. They say that I have good organizational skills, but without my laptop and e-mail, I would be lost. At the moment I live in Alagna, but my backpack is always ready and packed for that new mountain to be discovered.
