Pastry Café Der Gourner, are two words that derive from the ancient Walser dialect and mean "Il Monterosa". It is exactly under the Monterosa massif where our story begins, with the meeting of two historic families of the valley.

The Bertoli family with its third generation of artisans, Carlotta e Mattia, carry on what grandfather Carletto and grand-mother Eva began: a small business making pastry and agnolotti pasta, first in Varallo and then under the shade of the Morca bridge.

Pietro, the last male heir from the Stainer family inherited the hotel business genes from his great-grandfather Ulderico, owner of the renowned hotel Stainer of Alagna Valsesia in the 1940s. After a career as a cook and chef in prestigious Italian hotels, he decided to return home to devote himself to running the pastry shop.

The union of our artisan families gave life to the "Pastry Café Der Gourner " for a sweet future in Alagna.

The pastry shop, Pasticceria Der Gourner boasts an artisan production in an on-site laboratory, with an eye on the past when choosing raw materials from the territory only and an eye on the future using innovative production and storage systems.

All this to guarantee you, the final consumer, an exquisite handmade product steeped in tradition.

Our sweet and savoury pastry delights are served with a selection of refined teas, herbal teas and selected soft drinks, in a setting where our customers will find the right balance of mountain hospitality with technological comforts.
