Spring is made for skiing from Capanna Margherita

If your life philosophy is to go off the beaten track, ski touring on Monte Rosa is an inevitable choice: 18 peaks above 400m, 3 of the highest huts in the Alps, tempting grades and various exposure will make you fall in love with this wild area. Gnifetti and Mantova hut, base camp for all the alpine ascents, are the historic support points for reaching Margherita hut at 4554mt, and finding with you the perfect slope to leave you track.

1st day

Rendezvous in our office in Alagna or Gressoney  at 9 am for an equipment check and distribution of missing technical materials. Then, off-piste skiing with an introduction to ski touring and skinning uphill in the early afternoon to Capanna Gnifetti or Mantova where we should arrive around 4 pm. We will climb the short and not too demanding path from Indren to Gnifetti, with calm, long breaks so you can enjoy the view and gradually acclimatize.

2nd day

Your excursion continues with a roped ascent to Capanna Margherita in the early morning (approximately 3hrs), assisted by the guide who will accompany you on this memorable journey surrounded by an astonishing skyline. We will arrive at Capanna Margherita around mid-morning and after the mandatory photoshoot, you will return to Capanna Gnifetti/Mantova with a descent of 1100/900 m.

3rd day

Ascend to Pyramid Vincent 4060 m (approximately 2.5 hours) and descend along the incredible Lost Valley, on a succession of easy off-piste runs while returning to Alagna or Gressoney. The programme could undergo daily changes made by the guide, with the agreement of the participants, taking into account snow and weather conditions and technical level of the group.
