The hut is run by Ivana and her family, true “DOC” locals from Alagna, who welcome hikers and visitors with passion and kindness. The house specialty? Steaming hot polenta, served with DECO-certified salami and cheeses. A stop here is a true journey into the tastes of the mountains—well worth the effort of the hike.
How to reach us & opening times
To reach Zar Senni refuge, you must leave your car in Alagna and continue on foot along a scenic uphill mule track. The trail, immersed in nature, offers breathtaking views of the valley. The refuge is open daily until September 18, and then only on weekends. We highly recommend calling ahead to confirm opening times and any changes.
Special Eevents & useful information
Among the unmissable events, August 4 marks the celebration of Madonna della Neve, with the possibility of reaching the hut via helicopter service. Please note that restaurant reservations via email are not accepted, and due to occasional internet issues, electronic payments may not always be available. Always call in advance to check current opening/closing status!
