ALAGNA


ALAGNA – ALPE PILE

Ciaspole Alagna Valsesia Monterosa

Start: 1191 m asl

Arrival: 1575 m asl

Difference in altitude: 384 m

Difficulty: easy

Travel time: about 1.15 hours but it depends on the quantity and quality of the snow

It starts from the village or a little further from the locality of Wold. The itinerary starts on a paved road and then becomes snow-covered after the oratory of the upper Merletti hamlet, after crossing the Sesia river. From here you need to follow the main road, which is very wide, comfortable and with no particular elevation difference, up to the Acqua Bianca waterfall. From here begins the path that soon becomes a bit steeper. The stretch, however, is short. The ascent is then followed by the descent, taking the path to the left where you see the indication. Cross the covered bridge over the Sesia river and find yourself in the beautiful plain of Alpe Pile.

ALAGNA – OTRO

Difference in altitude: 473 m

Difficulty: medium

Route time: about 1.15 hours but it depends on the quantity and quality of the snow

Departure from Alagna, from Piazza Grober or from the Unione Alagnese building. The first section is in the village on a paved and clean path. After the Riale hamlet, path no. 203 for the Otro valley. Snowshoes are worn here. The route develops on a beautiful mule track with an average climb through the woods. After just over an hour, it appears on the plain of Otro, overlooked by some Walser hamlets

ALAGNA – HAMLETS OF “UNNA-HIN”

Start: 1191 m asl

Arrival: 1260 m asl

Difference in altitude: 69 m

Difficulty: easy and short

Travel time: about 40 minutes but it depends on the quantity and quality of the snow

Starting from the town of Alagna, passing through Piazza degli Alberghi, after a few meters you will find a bridge under the highway that crosses the Sesia river. Go over the bridge to Z’am Tachji. Here begins the snowy path and take the path that climbs to the left. Across the meadows you touch the hamlet of Ponte and then continue towards Pedemonte, home to the Walser Museum.

After removing the snowshoes, continuing along the oratory of San Nicolao, after about 30 meters, you cross a bridge that leads to the hamlets of Uterio and San Nicolao. From here you put on snowshoes again and passing behind the structures of two ancient mills, you follow the path that runs along the canal leading to Wold.

ALAGNA – RIVA VALDOBBIA

D'In D'Shenine

Start: 1191 m asl

Arrival: 1112 m asl

Difference in altitude: 79 m

Difficulty: easy and short

Route time: about 45 min stopping at Riva Valdobbia but it depends on the quantity and quality of the snow.

Starting from the village of Alagna, you go along the Sesia river downhill, before the end of the village you will find a bridge on the left that crosses the river. From here the snow-covered path begins and you walk alongside the cross-country ski track to the hamlet of Gabbio, where you cross the iron bridge to Riva Valdobbia in the locality of Sesietta. Alternatively, you can continue even further until you complete the entire loop of the track.

VAL VOGNA


CA’ D’JANZO – PECCIA SAN GRATO

Start: 1354 m asl

Arrival: 1529 m asl

Difference in altitude: 175 m

Difficulty: easy

Route time: about 1 hour but it depends on the quantity and quality of the snow

Leave the car in the hamlet of Ca ‘d’Janzo to continue on the paved road and touch the hamlets Ca’ Piacentino, Ca ‘Verno, Ca’ Morca and Sant’Antonio. From Sant’Antonio the snowy path begins. You walk along the Vogna valley on flat stretches and a few small climbs up to the hamlet of Peccia. Cross it and reach the Oratory dedicated to San Grato. From here it is also possible to continue towards the Napoleonic bridge with little slope.
