Spring is made for skiing from Capanna Margherita

If your philosophy of life is to go off the beaten track, ski touring on Monte Rosa is an inevitable choice: the base is Refuge Gnifetti, perched on the Garstelet glacier that has been challenging weather and climate change for over 100 years, the environment is Monterosa with 18 peaks above 4000 m. and your challenge will be its generous slopes.

Programme Margherita ski mountaineering stage:

1st day

Rendezvous in our office in Alagna or Gressoney  at 9 am for an equipment check and distribution of technical materials. Then, off-piste skiing with an introduction to ski touring and skinning uphill in the early afternoon to Capanna Gnifetti where we should arrive around 4 pm. We will do the short and not too demanding route from Indren to Gnifetti, with calm, long breaks so you can enjoy the view and gradually acclimatize. Dinner is served in the room reserved for guides and you spend the night in a comfortable bedroom.

2nd day

Your excursion continues with a roped ascent to Capanna Margherita in the early morning (approximately 3hrs), assisted by the guide who will accompany you on this memorable journey. Prepare yourself to witness a spectacular early morning skyline. We will arrive at Capanna Margherita around mid-morning and after the routine photoshoot, return to Capanna Gnifetti with a descent of 900 m.

3rd day

Ascend to Pyramid Vincent 4060 m (approximately 2 hours) and descend to Gressoney along the incredible Lost Valley, on a succession of easy off-piste runs returning to Alagna.
