Capanna Margherita in winter is wonderful
The ascent up to Capanna Margherita, the highest refuge in Europe, is one of the most coveted and exciting experiences for mountain enthusiasts. From the top of Punta Gnifetti at 4554 m, your gaze sweeps down from the dizzying south face of Monte Rosa over Alagna and Val Sesia, losing itself in the Po valley right up to the Maritime Alps. In winter, even if only the refuge’s winter rooms are open, reaching the refuge is possible on skis, relying on the safe guidance of the Alagna guides.
The guides from Alagna are the ones who will help you find the best route to reach Refuge Margherita, so go ahead and entrust your safety to a professional and your desires to the passion of those born in these mountains.
