Dairy Alta Valsesia, a cooperative with limited liability, was founded in 1956 by a group of farmers from Piode with the aim of collecting locally produced milk and transforming it into high-quality dairy products. The first dairy plant, which began operating in 1958, had a daily processing capacity of 10 to 12 quintals of milk. During the 1980s, following the expansion of the milk collection area and an increase in production to an average of 80 quintals of milk per day, a new facility was built according to modern design, organizational and hygiene standards. Today, Dairy Alta Valsesia efficiently manages the processing of milk supplied by its 35 member farmers, ensuring superior-quality artisanal dairy products.
For generations, Dairy Alta Valsesia has processed fresh local milk with passion and respect for traditional cheesemaking methods. Its production includes fresh and aged cheeses, featuring the renowned Toma della Valsesia, as well as artisanal yogurt, fresh cream, butter and ricotta. Every product is made with careful attention to the quality of the raw milk and under optimal hygiene and food safety conditions, offering consumers authentic artisanal specialties that reflect the traditions of the Valsesia area.
All Dairy Alta Valsesia products are available at the company's shop in Piode, located at Via Varallo 5, where customers can also find original gift packages for every occasion. Since 2011, the dairy's products have also been available at the "Alla Fonte" cooperative shops in Prato Sesia (Novara) and Fondotoce (Verbano-Cusio-Ossola). Since May 2023, a further sales point has been operating in the central square of Riva Valdobbia, offering a selection of local specialties and everyday essential products.
